After a smash success in Japan, the TV series Lost Man Found (Hirowareta Otoko), produced by NHK Japan and Disney+, was released on Hulu worldwide in January 2023. Marianne plays the recurring role of Jane, a restaurant manager in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was privileged to work with two Japanese stars, Taiga Nakano and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, in this well written series based on a true story.

In 2021, Marianne had the honor and pleasure to work with the Bollywood/Hollywood star Anupam Kher (Silver Linings Playbook, New Amsterdam) in his comedic feature Shiv Shastri Balboa. Get a sneak peak here, and check it out in cinemas starting February 10, 2023.

February 2023 the trailer for The Nomad was released ahead of the film’s international release. It was written and directed by Daniel Diosdado, produced by Nomada Films, and Marianne plays the role of Angelina, mother to the lead, experiencing symptoms of early alzheimers.

The Nomad - When a reporter filming a story about a serial killer targeting the city’s priests comes face to face with the killer, she must choose between turning him in and finishing the story … or directing him towards her abusive father and finishing her own.

In October, 2022 Marianne performed in the new comedic play #Crazyland by Andrew Marvel at Headwall Theatre Company in Queens. Set during the Trump era, I play a political editor of a liberal publication and hire my best friend and veteran journalist to write about the president and get thumbs up emoji’s and likes! I think I am saving him and the paper, but instead he creates a news story that brings us all down!

Marianne plays Mary Pickford’s mother in the documentary mini series Titans: The Rise of Hollywood , released on Curiosity Stream in early 2022. Set in the 1910’a and ‘20’s. the series tells the story of how a group of bold immigrants built the first film studios in Hollywood, making millions and elevating movies from a novelty to an art form. Mary Pickford, the “girl with the curls” of silent movie fame, was one of these early pioneers, and her mother was her manager. Click here to see a clip.

In 2021, Marianne played the role of Diane, mother in law to the lead in the indie feature Gazer (2023 release), written by Ryan Sloan and Ariella Mastroianni, directed by Ryan, starring Ariella. She loved working with these up and coming talented film makers, and even got to wear SFX makeup to appear in a nightmare sequence.

In October 2020 Marianne was especially blessed to play the lead in a SAFE, live outdoor performance of a new play. Homeless Garden is an adaptation of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, set in a dystopian future when much of the world is uninhabitable due to the effects of climate change. Refracted Theatre Company came up with a creative production model for producing safe live theater during the pandemic. The audience and actors were masked, distanced, and listening to an audio version of the play through headphones. The live actors were physically and silently acting out their roles, and magically the audience came to believe that what they heard in their headphones was being spoken by the masked actors they see on the grassy stage in front of them.

In September 2020 Last Day was picked up for distribution by Gonella Productions. Marianne played Yvonne in this short thriller written and directed by Moses Ntekereze. To rent go to Gonella Productions.

Eight Months Eleven Days was released on August 20th, 2020. Marianne starred in this beautiful short film written and directed by Johnathon Holdforth. A woman returns home to an empty house. Entirely filmed in her home in Brooklyn.

Marianne’s favorite project of 2019 was making this short film written and directed by her son George Goodell. While Self Tape was inspired by his real life experience helping his mom with self tape auditions, this scenario is total fiction. Check it out here. It is under 5 minutes and will make you smile.

The Red Lipstick Gang is a group of women creating sketch videos and spoof commercials where women of a certain age have the power. During the pandemic they have started to meet on Zoom. Take a look at how THAT went!

In June 2020 Marianne was an actor in a virtual immersive experience with Hollywood writer and director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Repo: The Genetic Opera, Spiral). During a time of sheltering in place and in the midst of a global pandemic, Darren (with the help of actors and many writers) spun dozens of stories played out across multiple mediums by participants spanning the globe.

Nightmarish Conjurings

Welcome to the Centennial of Women’s Suffrage in America. We celebrated with the virtual reading of a new play, War of the Roses, by Richard Mann, on September 5th, 2020.

In August 1920, the final battle for the ratification of the 19th amendment, a woman’s right to vote, was staged in Nashville, Tennessee. It was waged among 3 polar suffrage factions, each represented by a different colored rose. Can a rose in a lapel have enough weight in this unique moment of history to tip the scales against a lifetime of gender discrimination? These women and their advocates are determined to find out “whenever possible by whatever wiles.”

I was thrilled to be a part of this project and do not take my right to vote for granted! Women in America fought for more than 70 years to secure that right, which came almost 150 years after the founding of our nation.

In July 2020, as part of ATC studio’s Friday night virtual performances, and again as part of the Actor’s Quarantine Collective, Marianne reprised the role of Wilma in Fred Stroppel’s hilarious short play Pillow.
